The bathhouse story
A new house that takes its name from the word for hot water — before you go, meet the name and the rooms.
One character, and the whole house explained
八湯御桑拿 opened on 26 August 2026 on the 4th floor of the New Orient Landmark Hotel — the name is its own letter of introduction.
八 is the luckiest number in Chinese, and it is also 八方, the eight directions — guests from every direction, near or far. 湯 is the old word for hot spring water and bathing, the one Japanese bathhouses still carry today. 御 is the honorific reserved for the court: a 御 meal, a 御 carriage — anything that carries the character is done to the standard kept for honoured guests.
The sign at the sign reads 八湯御 — same house, same floor. The other names you may come across, 八湯御桑拿, 八湯桑拿, 八湯水療, 御水療, Yu Spa, all point here too. If in doubt, ask the hotel lobby for the sauna on the fourth floor.
The rooms follow the three characters. A dry sauna in pale hinoki, a steam room glazed from wall to wall, a hot pool hall — and around the corner, a corridor hung with lanterns and a dining lounge beyond it. Newly fitted out throughout for 2026, with Japanese quiet and Chinese detail sharing a single floor. Open 24 hours, with therapists on shift from 13:00 until 06:00 the next morning.
Six things worth knowing before you go
The short version, before you book.
Opened 26 August 2026
The newest sauna in NAPE, Macau, fitted out from scratch. The 7 October 2026 board starts at bath entry MOP 1,199.
Hinoki dry sauna and glass steam room
Tiered pale hinoki benches under warm lighting, plus a steam room glazed from wall to wall — the bathhouse way of warming up.
Hot pool hall
Start with a soak before anything else. Showers and changing facilities are on the same floor.
A bath in every massage room
Each private massage room has its own bath, so you can wash before or after without going back out.
Open 24 hours
Therapists are on shift from 13:00 until 06:00 the next morning — late flights and early border crossings are both catered for.
In the middle of NAPE
New Orient Landmark Hotel, 4th floor — a few minutes by car from the ferry terminal, with easy runs to the border gate and the airport.
The dining lounge
Somewhere to sit afterwards — a dining and rest lounge with the lights kept low, for pulling yourself together before heading out.
- Timber seating under warm light, the place to do nothing for a while after bathing
- What is served, and when, follows the venue's arrangements on the day
- Overnight stays are fine — paid private rest rooms, plus a free lounge rest area
- Open 24 hours — there is a seat here in the middle of the night too
