Inside the bathhouse
From the hot pools to the dry sauna — what each area is, and what it is for.
Room by room
Swipe through — from the hot pools to the lantern corridor, what each area actually looks like.
The bathhouse way of warming up
What matters at 八湯御桑拿 is not the flourishes but the bathing itself — dry heat, steam and hot water, three temperatures on one floor.
- Hinoki dry sauna: tiered pale hinoki benches, the scent of the wood arriving with the heat
- Glass steam room: glazed wall to wall, so the room stays open even full of steam
- Hot pool hall: a soak first, and the rest of the visit follows from there
- A suggested order: pools, then dry sauna, then a massage — staff can arrange it for you
The dining lounge
Somewhere to sit afterwards — a dining and rest lounge with the lights kept low, for pulling yourself together before heading out.
- Timber seating under warm light, the place to do nothing for a while after bathing
- What is served, and when, follows the venue's arrangements on the day
- Overnight stays are fine — paid private rest rooms, plus a free lounge rest area
- Open 24 hours — there is a seat here in the middle of the night too
